Susan Tam
Susan has been a principal of BD Square Architecture since 2013. She has 20 years of experience in the planning, design of residential, hospitality, and commercial/retail projects.
Susan managed and led many large scale hospitality projects for Hilton Worldwide, Larson Landing, and various other hotel brands with a strong understanding of client service, contract documents and the project delivery process
Susan's personal commitment and professional expertise has improved overall facilities, operation efficiency, and increased productivities effectively.
Susan fervently believes that thorough planning and design are inseparable, and paying attention to both will result in high quality projects. Her passion for her work is a touchstone of her and the firm’s success.

Matthew Sum
Matthew is a licensed contractor since 2005 and brings 26 years of experience in both architecture and construction to The BD Square Architecture. He has contributed to the success of projects in the roles of project manager and construction administrator.

Matthew has also served as technical leads for multiple large scale health care, laboratories including Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, corporate interior offices, residential and lighting commercial projects.

Matthew brings in the best of both worlds with a thorough understanding of the construction process and his design sensibilities, which has proven to be invaluable assets to his clients, and the projects he managed.

Matthew’s experience in real estate development and technical knowledge in construction has also reinforced the vigorous drive and team spirit required for on-time and on budget project delivery.
